Because neither the Old English Sheepdog or Poodle shed, Sheepadoodles are low to non shedding.  The coat types range from straight / loose wave, wavy, to curly. Sheepadoodles are lean in appearance and often seem much larger than they are due to their luxurious coats.

A Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle. Sheepadoodles are known for their playful, outgoing, and loving demeanor. Just like the Old English Sheepdog and Poodle, they are very smart and trainable. With their adorable looks and great dispositions, these dogs make excellent companions!
Sheepadoodles are very people oriented and affectionate dogs.

What is a Mini or micro Sheepadoodle?

Color

Sheepadoodles come in three different size ranges depending on the size of the parent dogs.

Micro: 10-20 lbs

Mini: 25 – 45 lbs (sometimes minis will mature larger or smaller)

Standard: 50+ lbs

Once Upon A Doodle specializes mini and micro Sheepadoodles. Because mature size is so hard to tell in puppies, I will estimate but no size is guaranteed.

Sheepadoodles are known for the “Panda bear” look because they often have a black back with one or both eyes covered with a black eye patch. Frequently, the black will fade to gray or gray and white, similar to the Old English Sheepdog.

There is a wide array of markings that the Sheepadoodles come in.  Some of the other rare colors that are not commonly seen in Sheepadoodles are sable, brindle, merle, chocolate, cream, and phantom.

Mini and Micro Sheepadoodles are incredible family dogs and companions.  They are social, affectionate, trainable, and loyal.  One of the best things about the Mini and Micro Sheepadoodles is their activity and energy level.  Mini and Micro Sheepadoodles love to play, go on adventures, and live an active lifestyle.  However, they are also mellow, cuddly, and couch potatoes.

FAQ's

Are Sheepadoodle Hypoallergenic?

Although no dog is considered 100% hypo-allergenic, Mini and micro Sheepadoodles are considered very allergy friendly and will likely not pose allergy problems.

Do Sheepadoodles Shed?

Our puppies are minimal to non shedding.  When your puppy is brushed it is common for hair to come out in the brush.  This is one of the greatest attributes of the Sheepadoodle is their amazing coats!

Do we breed Merle Sheepadoodles?

No, we do not breed merle Sheepadoodles. Because Old English Sheepdogs can carry the merle gene and can have blue eyes, it is high risk to breed an Old English Sheepdog to a merle Poodle as the puppies can be blind, deaf, or more predisposed to health problems.

What is Included with my Puppy?

The puppies are socialized from the time they are born until the time they go home, seen by a licensed veterinarian, up to date on vaccines and deworming, microchipped, and come with a two year genetic health guarantee. Each puppy also goes to his or new home with a comprehensive puppy gift. Each gift includes a leash, collar, toy, chews, treats, Once Upon A Doodle bag, and more!

Where is Once Upon A Doodle located?

How do I choose my puppy?

Puppies are chosen in order that reservation fees are received. The process of picking your puppy starts when the puppies reach 6 weeks of age. I take preferences into account and will help guide you to which puppy will work best for your lifestyle. It is very important to me that you choose a puppy that matches you and what you are looking for in the best possible way.

How will you choose your puppy? When it is your turn to choose and you are not local, we will do a FaceTime appointment with the puppies where I will explain each puppy’s disposition and unique characteristics. If you are local, We would love to have you come select your puppy in person at my home.

Are Sheepadoodles Easy To Train?

Yes, the mini and micro sheepadoodles are very trainable.  However, keep in mind that they are very smart so if you don't train them then they will definitely train you!

do you dock the tails?

No, we do not dock the tails of our puppies

Can we come visit?

we would love to show off our beautiful puppies. however, For their health and well being, we only allow visitations for people who are on our reservation list when it is time for them to choose their puppy. Our puppies and adult dogs are of the upmost importance to us and while we would love for you to visit, it compromises the puppies health.

What colors are your puppies?

Most of our mini and micro Sheepadoodles are all born black and white.  some puppies may fade to gray and white as they age. Along with black and white, we also have red and white mini and micro sheepadoodles

Can we call you?

If you are interested in talking to us about one of our puppies, please send us an email and we will schedule a time to chat.

Do Sheepadoodles require a lot of grooming?

Yes, Sheepadoodles require consistent grooming.  We recommend the first grooming for your puppy when he/she is around 4 months old. After the inital grooming, your puppy will need to be brought to the groomer every 6-8 weeks.  Brushing and combing several days a week between grooming appointments will also be necessary.  If you are not prepared for the time and financial investment of grooming your Sheepadoodle then a Sheepadoodle may not be the right fit for you.
